How to Make Candles

Disclaimer: Handstand Kitchen recommends you have a set of molds specifically for crafts and another for baking. Please do not use the same mold for both crafting and baking, in order to avoid any potential health risks.

 Handstand Kitchen Silicone Cupcake Mold
Double Boiler or a regular pot and metal cup or jar to melt wax
Popsicle Sticks

White Wax

Scented Essential Oils (optional)

Note: If you want different colors for your candle, you can add crayons to the white wax or use different colored wax.

 1. Place the wick in the middle of the mold and hold it in place with 2 popsicle sticks.

2. Use the double boiler to melt the wax or place a pot filled with hot water on the stove and keep the heat at a medium. Place the wax in the metal cup or jar and place inside of the water filled pot (make sure no water gets in the wax). Melt the wax until it is completely liquid and add essential oil as needed.

3. Pour the wax carefully into the silicone mold, making sure the wick is still straight and in place. Let it completely cool and harden. This may take a couple hours.

4. Once hardened, take the candles out of the mold and carefully pull the wick through on the top. You may need to use a toothpick or tweezer to carefully get to the wick so that you can pull it through.

Note: If you want to make layers of different colors, make sure to let each layer harden completely before adding the next layer to avoid mixing of colors.
