Ingredients
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened |
2 1/2 cups white sugar |
4 eggs |
5 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil and set aside. |
2. Combine the softened butter and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Cream using an electric or hand mixer on medium speed until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract. Set aside. |
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. |
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ones, until fully combined. Cover and chill for at least one hour in the refrigerator. |
5. When the dough is ready, lightly dust a cutting board with flour. Section off the dough and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to shape the dough and place them one inch apart on the lined cookie sheet. |
6. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until the edges are light, golden brown. Let them cool and then decorate with Royal Icing! |
